Description

Quercetin is a flavonoid found widely in plants. It is one of the most abundant dietary flavonoids. The name comes from the Latin word quercetum (oak forest), as quercetin was first isolated from oak bark.

Other flavonols include kaempferol and myricetin. Flavonols are characterized by a hydroxyl group at position 3 of the flavone backbone, which contributes to their antioxidant activity.
